Tower Terrace Corridor Study, Marion, Iowa The proposed 8-mileTower Terrace Road Corridor will ultimately serve as a major arterial connecting Interstate 380 to Highway 13 and will play a vital role in future development and growth of the northern metro area. Ament developed options for key segments for the City of Marion section of the Tower Terrace Road Corridor to determine an efficient, aesthetically pleasing and cost effective alignment. The firm coordinated multiple public meetings and presentations to explain the preliminary roadway and bridge design, project funding, final design and construction staging. Key issues in the project included public involvement; FEMA regulations and hydraulic analysis; aesthetics suited to the City’s design plans; federal, state and local permits to meet multiple funding source requirements; intersection relocations and connectivity; right-of-way and property acquisition; wetlands impact; open space and habitat impact; safety and efficiency; and recreational features such as multi-use trails.
