HUNTERS RIDGE GOLF CLUB & RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT

Project Concept - Members of the Hunters Ridge Development Company envisioned a premier-level 18-hole golf course on 400 rolling acres just north of Marion, Iowa. They pictured a spectacular club house, tennis courts and swimming pool. Winding through the course, they imagined an impressive residential housing development featuring upscale homes and townhouse units.

After four years of planning, design and construction, the Hunters Ridge Golf Course opened to the public in April of 1997 and today more than 350 housing units are completed or under construction in the residential development.

The Course

The course itself was designed by nationally recognized golf course architect, Lohmann Design, based in the Chicago area. 

 Aments Role 

Ament provided the total framework for the realization of Hunters Ridge. Staff performed the PUD planning; and the boundary, topographic and preliminary surveys so that the course construction could begin in June of 1995. We also assisted with initial planning and permitting for the course's irrigation wells. 

Planning

Our engineering team planned the residential roadway alignments, platted the lots and designed all sewer and water utilities for Phase I of the residential development, which encompasses the southern half of the course. Also developed were preliminary utility plans for the remainder of the course so that primary water and sewer lines could be installed.

As a result, the course itself need not be disturbed when the northern section is opened to residential development in the future.  Ament engineers also designed a landscaped public parking area near the current clubhouse on which construction was recently completed.
