Ament Engineering

Project

OAKDALE BOULEVARD EXTENSION
City of Coralville, Iowa
University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa

This project was preceded by an alignment study completed by Ament to determine the preferred alignment for the final design.

The final design for this project included surveying and design for 5,300 feet of arterial roadway to accommodate the future growth of north Coralville.

The recommended concept involved the purchase of right-of-way and a roadway design for a future four-lane facility with immediate construction limited to two lanes.

The project was separated into two divisions for funding purposes: one for institutional road funds for the University of Iowa and another for local funding by the City of Coralville. The project included right-of-way plats, grading, drainage, storm sewer, water main, bike and pedestrian trails, and paving of a two-lane urban roadway.

Ament was also selected to perform full-time onsite construction observation for this project.

Ament Performance on Cost:  The final bid for this project was awarded at $1.4 million dollars against Ament's cost opinion of $1.65 million.

Ament Personnel Involvement:  John Bender, PE, was the Project Manager; Larry Berns was the Project Engineer.
